Honestly, I don't know any main lines to counter the Ruy Lopez, so I just play the Jaenisch Gambit against it, since that one seems easier to remember.

These idiots who try scholar's mate over and over again really hope this time they get an opponent who falls for this SUPER WELL KNOWN ACROSS THE WORLD "trick", so they can flex "wow, i checkmated you in three moves, and this was all my idea. Look how genius I am!" Not to mention every player who played more than 20 games in his/her life is not surprised at all and has some decent experience dealing with this bullshit. Whenever I see someone pulling this on me I know I am against some noob and game will be over soon.

can you believe that I’ve had an opponent on black side trying to scholar mate me when I started 1.g3 💀 it did not work both times something like 1.g3 e5 2.c4 qf6 3.bg2 bc5 (e3 was my response since I didn’t even know the name of the mate, just that the f2 pawn is vulnerable to attack in general)

This opening is not good in a higher rated player because they are bad positionally. Try Pirc Defense instead if you want a systematic opening. It's much better than Nimzowitsch Defense.
